Introduction, Prayer and Iftar Program Held by Upazila Branch of National Journalists Association in Shibpur

An introduction meeting, prayer, and Iftar program was held in of organized by the upazila branch of the .

The program took place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the hallroom of . The event was presided over by , President of the Shibpur Upazila branch of the National Journalists Association and Administrative Representative of the Dhaka Division (CRB).

The chief guest was freedom fighter and President of the Shibpur Upazila unit, . The keynote speaker was , Head Teacher of .

Special guests included , Vice President of the Narsingdi District National Journalists Association and Convener of the ; , Vice President of the district National Journalists Association and former General Secretary of Shibpur Press Club; , Office Secretary of the district National Journalists Association; , Senior Vice President of the Shibpur Upazila branch; , former GS of ; , Assistant Head Teacher of Shibpur Government Model Pilot High School; , Vice President of the Shibpur Upazila branch; and , Organizational Secretary of the Shibpur Upazila branch.

The program was hosted by , General Secretary of the district National Journalists Association. Greetings were delivered by , Joint General Secretary of the Shibpur Upazila branch. Also present were , Finance Secretary, and , Office Secretary of the Shibpur Upazila branch, along with other leaders and students from a local orphanage.

The concluding prayer was led by Quran memorization student from .

Speakers said that journalism is a noble profession, and it is the ethical responsibility of journalists to speak the truth and expose falsehood. They emphasized that journalists must perform their duties without greed or personal interests. Some speakers also criticized a small number of journalists who engage in unethical activities, saying that such actions bring disrepute to the profession. They urged journalists to avoid writing defamatory or misleading news for financial gain and to uphold honesty and professionalism in their work.

They also expressed hope that everyone would extend full cooperation for the development of the Shibpur Upazila branch of the National Journalists Association in the future, InshaAllah.
