On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, an Iftar mahfil was organized by the Upazila BNP in Bhurungamari of Kurigram.
The event was held on Wednesday (March 11) in the afternoon at the field of Bhurungamari Fazil Degree Madrasa. People from various professions and political backgrounds attended the program, turning the gathering into a large social reunion.
The Iftar mahfil was presided over by Upazila BNP Convener Kazi Alauddin Mondol and conducted by Member Secretary Lecturer Shahidul Islam Akand. The chief guest at the event was Kurigram District BNP Convener Mostafizar Rahman Mostofa.
Special guests included District BNP Member Secretary Alhaj Sohel Hosnain Kaykobad, Senior Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman Hasib, Convener Committee Member Dr. Yunus Ali, District Krishak Dal Convener Riponur Rahman Ripon, District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Himel, Public Prosecutor of Kurigram District and Sessions Judge Court Advocate Bazlur Rashid, and Nageshwari Upazila BNP Convener Golam Rasul Raja.
Local businessmen, leaders from different political parties, representatives of social and cultural organizations, public representatives, and people from various walks of life were also present at the program.
Speakers said that Ramadan teaches restraint, compassion, and brotherhood. They called on everyone to forget differences during this holy month and work together for social harmony and the welfare of the country.
Before Iftar, a special prayer and munajat were offered seeking peace and prosperity for the country and the nation. Later, Iftar was distributed among the guests and party activists.
After the Iftar, the chief guest Mostafizar Rahman Mostofa inaugurated the new office of Bhurungamari Upazila BNP.
