Staff Reporter: Habiganj
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at around 4:00 PM, Eid gift items were distributed among all stipend-receiving members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party in Habiganj Sadar Upazila. The distribution was carried out by District Commandant Mujibul Haque.
The program was conducted by the Ansar and VDP Officer of Habiganj Sadar Upazila, Md. Nurul Islam. During the event, Eid gift items were handed over to stipend-receiving union VDP team leaders, team leaderesses, union Ansar commanders, and assistant Ansar commanders from every union of the upazila.
At present, members of the force are actively involved in various social development and law-and-order activities. Their roles include maintaining security during national elections, ensuring safety during religious festivals such as Durga Puja, and contributing to different community development initiatives.
Members stated that although the government provides them with a monthly allowance, it is very small. Team leaders and team leaderesses urged the government to consider introducing a one-unit ration system and to give proper attention to their concerns.
They mentioned that they have to report to the office two days every month and regularly visit villages across their respective unions to perform duties, yet they do not receive a proper salary or ration support.
The program concluded with a special Iftar arrangement for the participants.
